The PML-N government is playing an autocratic role in the canal project, the Punjab government has done unconstitutional work by allocating the budget for the Cholistan Canal, Ppp Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh has announced the launch a protest movement against the six-canal project on the Indus River and protest in all district headquarters across Sindh on Tuesday, March 25. The announcement was made by PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while addressing a press conference in the Sindh Assembly on Friday along with Waqar Mahdi and Nimr Dhamra. Nisar Khuhro said that rallies and demonstrations would be held in all district headquarters of Sindh on Tuesday, March 25 against the controversial six-canal project by the PPP. He said that protest meetings would also be held against the controversial canal project, and street protests would also be held. “I salute the parties and the people protesting against the six-canal project and support their struggle,” he said.

He appealed to the people of Sindh to come together to fight a joint struggle against these canals, but the political parties are complaining that they are criticizing the PPP but have not taken out rallies against the canal project. Nisar Khuhro said that the voice of Sindh against the 6 Canal project will have an impact, so the PPP will also contact all political parties and nationalists in connection with the protest movement so that the project against Sindh can be scrapped through joint struggle. He said that by starting the construction work of the Cholistan Canal without the approval of any constitutional forum, the federal government has reminded us of dictatorship. In the past, dictator Pervez Musharraf constructed the Thal Canal without the approval of constitutional forums and now the PML-N federal government is playing an authoritarian role in the six canal projects including the Cholistan Canal. He said that the Punjab government has done unconstitutional work by allocating the budget for The Cholistan Canal.

He said the PPP would fight against the six-canal project in all constitutional forums, houses, and roads, but would not allow anyone to take out the canal on the Indus river. Nisar Khuhro said that the Cholistan Canal Project is more dangerous than the Kalabagh Dam, which will make Sindh barren. Just as in the past, the PML-N government had to announce the withdrawal of the Kalabagh dam, the present PML-N government will have to announce the withdrawal of these six canal projects. In response to a question, Nisar Khuhro said that President Asif Ali Zardari has proved that President Zardari is not involved in the issue of the canal by calling it a unilateral decision of the federal government.

He said that there are demands to separate the PPP from the federal government, but the PPP is not part of the federal government, but there is a conspiracy to form a national government by alleging the involvement of the PPP on the issue of canals so that the democratic government in the country ends and the national government is formed, which Fawad Chaudhry has also indicated. He said that in the past dictator Pervez Musharraf built the Greater Thal Canal under the executive order, which was opposed by all parties including the PPP and now there is no era of dictatorship, so the PPP is ready for a joint struggle with all parties against these controversial canal projects, for which political parties will be contacted and meetings will be held. He said that the PPP has passed a resolution in the Sindh Assembly against the project of six canals in the Sindh Assembly and will fight Sindh’s case against these canals at every forum and now it will also fight Sindh’s case on the roads.
