Begum Nusrat Bhutto nurtured the PPP with the blood of her family and workers, and President Zardari became president for the second time due to Begum Bhutto’s democratic struggle. The speakers expressed these views while addressing the 96th birth anniversary celebrations of Mother Democracy Begum Nusrat Bhutto at Pakistan People’s Party Central Punjab Secretariat Model Town. Chairman Bhutto Legacy Foundation Bashir Riaz was the chief guest on the occasion while Member Federal Council Shahida Jabeen presided over the function. Begum Nusrat Bhutto’s 96th birthday cake was also cut on the occasion. Party leaders Haji Azizur Rehman Chan, Ahmed Jawad Rana, Dr Zarar Yusuf, Ghulam Abbas Mir, Javed Ilyas Jaji Butt, Shabbir Abbas Mir, Arif Khan, Akram Farooqi, Naseer Khan, Rai Ahmed Hassan Jandika, Khawaja Amir Saeed, Mubashir Saruba, Nauman Yousuf, Khawar Nahid Mohal, Farhat Yasmin, Yasmin Farooq Saleem Mughal, Shahid Shirazi were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Bhutto Legacy Foundation Bashir Riaz said that The Bhutto family has played a role for the development of Pakistan from generation to generation, Begum Bhutto is a symbol of democracy and a role model for women all over the world. Member Federal Council Shahida Jabeen said that Begum Bhutto lit the lamp of democracy by eating sticks on the head in Zia’s dictatorship. Member Federal Council Haji Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan said that Begum Bhutto fought for democracy along with quaid-e-azam, Dr. Zarar Yusuf said that Begum Bhutto has a role in the transformation of PPP, Naseer Khan said that the plant of democracy is flourishing today due to the struggle of Begum Nusrat Bhutto. Kashmiri leaders Ghulam Abbas Mir, Akram Farooqi, and Rana Iftikhar also paid tribute to the mother of democracy.
