Delegation of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association meets Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, reviews proposal to create pharma zone
A delegation of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association called on Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafi Hussain at Pisk House Davis Road. The delegation was led by Chairman PPMA Saad Javed Akram. The meeting reviewed the proposal to set up a separate pharma zone for the pharmaceutical sector. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman PPMA Saad Javed Akram said that he wanted to set up a pharma zone on 150 acres of land for the pharmaceutical sector. He said that pharmaceuticals are an important sector of exports and a separate cluster is essential for its expansion. The complete plan regarding the pharma zone will be given in the next two days. Talking to the delegation, Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafi Hussain said that pharmaceuticals are an important sector and the government will provide all possible support for its expansion.
The association will give a plan for the pharma zone, follow-up will be done to implement it. He said that the pharmaceutical sector is providing employment to thousands of people and more industries will create new employment opportunities. With the creation of pharma zones, new pharmaceutical factories will be set up and the country’s exports will increase. The provincial minister said that there is a huge scope to increase exports in the pharmaceutical sector. It is necessary to accelerate the process of industrialization to increase employment opportunities. Chaudhry Shafi Hussain said that it is my mission to bring new industries and new investments to Punjab. Due to the government’s efforts and favorable environment for business, new factories are coming up rapidly in Punjab. Secretary Industries and Commerce Omar Masood and Chairman PEDMC Javed Iqbal were also present at the meeting. The delegation included Senior Vice Chairman PPMA Shafiq Abbasi, Mian Asad Shuja-ur-Rehman, Khawaja Shahzeb Akram, Mian Khalid Misbah, and others.
