French actor Gerard DePardio has been charged with sexually assaulting two women on the sets of the film. According to foreign media, DePardio, a celebrity in French cinema, has faced several allegations of sexual abuse in recent years. DePardio, 76, has consistently denied any wrongdoing, but this will be the first case for which he will be tried.DePardio’s lawyer, Jeremy Asus, said the case was based on false allegations against his client, adding that the film star appeared in court after the initial hearing was adjourned due to ill health. Prosecutors say the sexual assaults on two women on the film set took place during the filming of Les Volts Vortices (The Green Shutter) in 2021. He grabbed one of the women on the set of the film DePardio, pulled him towards him, touched his body, and said obscene words, making indecent acts, prosecutors say that three people saw the scene, which is his eye witness. He says that the second woman was surrounded by DePardio on the film set and in a nearby street, the identity of the women was not revealed. The alleged attacks by French star Gerard DePardio came as he was already under investigation in connection with allegations of raping an 18-year-old actress in 2018. A trial has been requested by the prosecution in this case. The lawyer for one of the women told Reuters that her client was afraid to come forward against DePardio because he is a tycoon in French cinema and the actress has just started her career. Gerrard’s case could be the biggest #MeToo case before French courts, as France is a country where protests against sexual violence have struggled to get the same attention as the United States and now strong action is expected if such cases come to light.
