National team opener Hasan Nawaz became the Pakistani batter to score his first T20 century in the shortest innings. Pakistan beat New Zealand by 9 wickets in the third T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand. In the match played in Auckland, the visiting team Pakistan won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Despite millions of efforts of Pakistani bowlers, the Kiwi team scored 204 runs and the entire team was dismissed in 19.5 overs. For Pakistan, Haris Rauf took three wickets, Shaheen Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, and Abbas Afridi took two wickets each and Shadab Khan took one wicket. In reply, Pakistan’s top order performed brilliantly, opener Mohammad Haris was dismissed for 41, while Hassan Nawaz scored a brilliant century off 44 balls and captain Salman Ali Agha supported him and scored 51 runs off 31 balls.
Hasan Nawaz scored his first century in this format in just the third T20 match, earlier the country’s record for scoring his first century in the shortest innings was held by Mohammad Rizwan, who scored the first T20 century in his 19th innings in 2021, Ahmed Shehzad scored the first T20 century in the 25th innings and third in the list while Babar Azam scored the first in the 48th innings. He is fourth in the list by scoring T20. It should be noted that national team opener Hasan Nawaz also won the honor of scoring the fastest century for Pakistan in T20 cricket. Before Hasan Nawaz, the record for scoring the fastest T20 century for Pakistan was held by former captain Babar Azam, who scored a century off 49 balls against South Africa in 2021. Ahmed Shehzad scored a century in 58 balls against Bangladesh in The T20 World Cup 2014 in Dhaka, Babar Azam is fourth in the list by scoring a century off 58 balls against New Zealand in Lahore in 2023, and fifth in 2022 by scoring a century in 62 balls against England. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is sixth on the list with a century off 63 balls against South Africa in 2021.
